What is the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme?
The Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS) provides grants for public sector bodies to fund energy efficiency and heat decarbonisation measures in public sector buildings such as schools, NHS hospitals and council buildings. The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) launched Phase one of the PSDS in autumn 2020 with a £1 billion grant fund to support the development of energy efficient and heat decarbonisation projects.

What is Phase 4 of the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme?
Further phases to the scheme have been announced, with £1.17 billion of funding allocated for phase 4 of the scheme. The phase outlines £670 million of funding which will be available from 2025-26, £300m which will be available from 2026-27, and £200m of funding in the years 2027-28.
How to prepare your PSDS application
As with all previous phases, this will be run on a first come first served basis with the fund closing when applications have exceeded the amount in the fund. This makes it vital that public sector organisations ready to take that step to a low carbon heating future put a plan in place as early as possible in order to be fully prepared to submit their application as soon as the fund opens. Contact one of our expert team today for help with planning your PSDS application for the deadline.
