What is planned preventatative maintenance (PPM)?
Planned preventative maintenance (PPM) refers to regularly scheduled maintenance plans to prevent damage occuring in your commercial property. Regular maintenance is important to ensure your property maintains a good condition and appearance, and operates efficientlty. Inadequate maintenance can lead to issues which can endanger occupiers of the property. Maintenance can be both reactive (responding to incidents as they occur), or preventative, wherein by planning ahead this can aim to reduce incidents from occuring and then having to respond to this once they have happened.
What are the benefits of planned preventative maintenance?
Using planned preventative maintenance presents many benefits, including the following:
- Can be used to plan ahead any required work to the property, such as retrofitting and refurbishment works
- Reduces the risk of damage from weather conditions, and usage
- Protects the property against effects of decay
- Diagnoses the cause of issues in the property to prevent repeat occurance
