A new café concept is coming to Newmarket this spring following the letting of the former Hughes premises at 112 High Street to the owner & operator of a Cambridge patisserie by property agency, Eddisons.
Bravo Cakes & Play is aiming to fill a gap in Newmarket’s current food & beverage offering for a child-friendly yet high-quality café with a dedicated play area for babies, toddlers and young children.
This new Newmarket venture is the brainchild of Dilara Dogan and partner, and head patisserie chef, Vedat Celik who established Cambridge’s Bravo Patisserie which has continued to trade successfully since it opened on Mill Road in the summer of 2020.
Knowing Newmarket well, Dilara, who has a young family, saw a gap in the town’s commercial offer for a family-focused café that doesn't skimp on quality. She explains, “There are many eateries in and around the high street area but, in my experience, none where children are at the forefront of the design and culture of the place.
“To me, it seemed like children are ‘accommodated’ in being seen as secondary to adult customers. This sparked a business idea and, finally, after a search of over 18 months, I’ve found the right premises, in terms of location, street frontage and an internal layout that can accommodate the Bravo Cakes & Play concept.
“The Newmarket Bravo venture is complementary to that of the Cambridge patisserie, and I will be looking to recruit specifically for Cakes & Play to add to the current Bravo team of five.”
Cambridge surveyor Joe Berry led the letting of 112 High Street, Newmarket. Speaking about the forthcoming opening of Bravo Cakes & Play following completion of the property deal, he said, “Across the country, Eddisons is seeing independent operators leading the way when it comes to re-defining the modern high street in our towns - Newmarket is no exception.
“Bravo Cakes & Play will be a unique café offer there and it’s cheering to see Dilara building her business brand in the region. We wish her well.”
