Insights

No summer slump for Eddisons!

We've been very lucky this month, hosting a number of lucrative lots. Plant and machinery is a huge mainstay for us but one thing we have been lucky to sell recently is a series of Hornsea Pottery pieces - a local icon to us, and a household name the world over!

Our assets auctions are hugely popular due their huge variety of lots and flexibility for both bidders and sellers. Since 2020, our auctions have taken place online, allowing for global interest on assets such as comic books, machinery, and retail goods.

Hornsea Pottery

Hornsea PotteryEstablished in 1949, the commercially- and critically-acclaimed pottery studio put Hornsea on the map the world over. At one point was so in demand that department stores had to be restricted to a fixed amount so the business could keep up! Now, as one of its last suppliers closes, we were given the opportunity to sell the final items from its inventory.

One particular lot had the auction in a frenzy, with the humble tea-towel ending up as the most expensive item in the sale. The lot was finalised at £390, a fine price for a slice of East Yorkshire history.

Caterpillar

Caterpillar duo

The largest manufacturer of construction equipment in the world, Caterpillar Inc is a familiar brand to everyone. Diversifying in later life to mobile technology and fire prevention tools, the Caterpillar brand is known mostly for its tractors and excavators.

We were delighted to sell this Caterpillar D5K2 LGP Tracked Bulldozer (2019) sell this month for £115,000. With 31 bidders in the auction, it was never going to be a quick sale!

Komatsu

Komatsu duo

Meaning "small pine tree" in Japanese, Komatsu is a rival to Caterpillar Inc., making their name in forestry, construction and mining technology. Grown through acquisition, Komatsu has proven itself to be a strong business, with innovative product development and environmental-mindedness.

We were lucky to put the Komatsu PC450LC 45ton steel tracked crawler excavator under the hammer earlier this month. The item was a hit online, resulting in an extended bidding war that lasted 4 hours!

Ilapak

Ilapak Carrera 2000 40We sell an awful lot of 'niche' plant and machinery items, which could never be imagined by the average person but are vital to others! For instance, this month, our team helped their clients AllSports Nutrition secure a sale of £65,000 on their Carrera 2000/40 Flow Wrapper.

What is a "flow wrapper", we hear you ask? This contraption wrapped and sealed thousands upon thousands of nutrition bars for commercial distribution! The more you know, the more you grow.
