Project
A new main entrance and reception area at the front of the building became necessary after safeguarding issues arose due to the location of the existing reception area, forcing visitors to walk through the site before signing in.
Approach
Alongside refurbishing areas to comply with the Equality Act, Eddisons converted a classroom into the new reception area. This helped to achieve other requirements within the Trust's specification such as automatic doors, ramps, CCTV and a new canopy over the entrance.
Whilst executing this, Eddisons also managed the removal of asbestos, keeping structual alterations within budgetary restraints, and also supported the planning application for the canopy. As the team were working in an occupied school, Eddisons had to consider keeping noise and disruption to a minimum, on top of prioritising the health and safety of staff, students and our own team.
Results
All works were completed to a high standard, on budget and to programme. Ensuring the works finished before schools opened allowed for better pupil safeguarding as well a safer working environment for reception staff.
