Project
With significant funding from the Department for Education, the Workers' Educational Association has committed £16m to an estate transformation programme.
As part of the programme, WEA appointed Eddisons in an advisory role early into the project. Initial tasks included analysing data and producing an estate strategy that realised their vision and allowed for further capital investment.
Approach
Eddisons engaged with key members of WEA's estates, operations, and finance teams to understand all aspects of the organisation, including its priorities and ambitions.
On the back of this, our team was able to outline a plan for WEA, focusing on three points:
- Investing in existing campus hubs in Bristol, Scunthorpe, and Nottingham
- Acquiring new premises in strategic locations such as Brighton
- Disposing of premises that have proven to be surplus to requirements such as Newcastle and Leicester
To ensure that the plan was executed as intended, we have also actively managed the funding of the programme so timings and budget are not a problem. This involves reporting to the Department for Education to show the projected spending of both individual projects and the overall scheme.
Results
WEA continues to work with Eddisons across disciplines, including project management and town planning advice. Our Programme Management Office consultancy support continues to track the progress of the delivery of the strategy.
