Project
Through discussions with McDonald’s it became clear that the relocation of this longstanding Cornhill restaurant, to a larger Hight Street unit, would suit both parties interests.
The ever-popular fast-food chain’s relocation enabled the next phase of the Cornhill Quarter to proceed, a major city centre regeneration project on which Banks Long & Co manage site assembly, development consultancy, project management and lettings.
Approach
The Leisure Agency team orchestrated McDonalds’s move from their original location in the Cornhill to a modernised and refurbished building on Lincoln’s High Street, formerly occupied by HMV, who themselves have relocated into a new unit in the Cornhill Quarter.
The well known, global brand agreed on a longterm lease at their new, revamped location in the city, which has introduced technology and increased space that wasn’t present at their old restaurant, including self-order kiosks.
Results
The project was undertaken and completed at the height of the Coronavirus lockdowns, and has helped the Company create new jobs and gain more business, during what has been a difficult time for many restaurants and leisure businesses.
McDonald's franchisee and tenant of the newly refurbed High Street store James Thompson told The Lincolnite: “It’s a fabulous opportunity for the staff, but also the customers. It is an improved location, the store frontage is more visible, and it’s a beautiful listed building.”
The client’s former location in the eastern end of the Cornhill Quarter has been transformed to make way for yet more exciting brands in the multi-million pound development.
