Project
Eddisons were appointed by Parkside Academy to apply for CIF Funding to replace a single glazed, 1960’s style Curtain Walling System to a 3 storey teaching block.
Eddisons were appointed with two funding applications to replace dilapidated windows and curtain walling of a three-storey teaching block, and for improvements to the ventilation in the kitchen facilities. The Academy also requested that school colours were incorporated within the refurbishment works.
The appointment of Eddisons followed many years of working with the academy successfully to apply for, and manage, ESFA capital funded refurbishment schemes.
Approach
After successfully obtaining in excess of £750,000 to finance the refurbishment works, we were appointed to undertake the role of Lead Designer, Principal Designer and Contract Administrator.
Working in a live academic environment to undertake the works, Eddisons managed the programme of works, phasing requirements and Health and Safety of the project from inception through to completion. Given the nature of the works, this required the expertise of our Building and Project Consultancy team to proactively provide advice, guidance and recommendations to the client in respect of how the works would be delivered successfully and safely.
Results
The successful delivery of the project provided the academy with a modern, thermally efficient and safe academic building in which to work and learn.
The academy no longer needs their heating system to operate throughout the day to maintain a comfortable internal temperature. This has resulted in the academy making annual savings on their utility costs, expenditure of which can be reinvested into other areas of the academy.
The client, pupils and parents are all delighted with the finished appearance of the academy which incorporated insulated panels to match the academy corporate colours.
