Project
Eddisons was approached by a leading sports equipment provider to arrange the demolition of a two-storey office wing that had become outdated and unuseable.
The client was keen to retain the adjacent office wing, so Eddisons had to navigate wider planning consents to ensure empty rates mitigation was still possible.
Approach
The team organised both a Prior Notice of Demolition and a Section 80 Notice, under the Building Act 1984, to obtain stautory consents to permit the demolition work.
Eddisons put the job to tender, organising a competitive tendering exercise to ensure the specialist contractors that were successful were also registered with the NFDC. Other works on the demolition project included asbestos strip-out and isolation of mains.
Having undertaken Contract Administration duties in conjunction with the Principal Designer role, we were also able to monitor and evaluate each stage to keep the cost within budget and the project within the specified timeframe.
Results
Over the course of two months during Summer 2024, the West Wing of the building was successfully demolished in full, ensuring the client could continue with their work without the structure of their building impeding their plans for growth.
