Project
Eddisons were appointed by Rydal Academy to apply for CIF funding to replace a number of inefficient gas fired boilers, the primary source of heating throughout the school. The appointment of Eddisons was based on word of mouth from another academy for which we had secured funding 12 months earlier.
Approach
After successfully obtaining in excess of £300,000 to finance the boiler replacement works, we were appointed to undertake the role of Lead Designer, Principal Designer and Contract Administrator.
We managed the programme of works and all Health and Safety requirements of the project from inception through to completion. Works were traditionally tendered shortly after the design had been completed following the ESFA funding announcement in early April, with a contractor appointed and works commencing as soon as the summer holiday period commenced. This prevented any disruption to the academy heating system during term time.
Results
The project was completed on time, within budget and to the satisfaction of the client. The replacement boilers are a lot more energy efficient which has resulted in the academy saving on annual utility costs – costs of which can be reinvested into other areas of the academy.
