Project
Hesco Bastion approached Eddisons to advise them on reducing the liability of a surplus site at Cross Green, Leeds. They had previously been in direct discussions with a demolition company to demolish the site in order to save £100,000+ in building costs.
The quotes from demolition companies were beyond their available budget, which meant the project was not viable.
We took time to understand their requirements and produced a detailed plan that removed the liability and worked for their budget.
Approach
The first stage of the project was to undertake a full tender for the demolition and decontamination of the site, which included asbestos. This rigorous competitive tender process resulted in the selection of a company to demolish, salvage and decontaminate the site.
Once the site was cleared, our rating team were able to remove the property from the rating list, removing the significant rating liability of the site.
A number of surplus assets ranging from architectural stone to heavy duty plant and machinery were identified during the course of the project for which we held an online auction. This realised a significant amount, whilst ensuring the assets were cleared from the site.
Results
The tender process we coordinated resulted in significant cost savings on the original demolition estimates We successfully pulled together specialists to demolish, delist, decontaminate, dispose of plant and equipment, before finally marketing and disposing of the site.
