Project
Arla Dairies, a major milk producer and processor, decided to close a key processing plant in Essex. They wished to appoint a single party to market and sell all food processing assets, along with dismantling and demolishing the buildings to leave a cleared site for development.
Approach
Along with a team of professional demolition contractors, Eddisons proposed a unified approach including demolition and the sale and disposal of complex assets to Arla board.
Dairy assets included milk processing equipment, packaging equipment and a large modern effluent treatment plant. Some of the tanks were so large that needed to be transported at night. Eddisons was responsible for the security of the site, ensuring the proper handling of the assets.
Results
Sales by auction and private treaty were arranged. We successfully sold the most complex assets via negotiation and the remaining processing equipment through auction. Buyers included parties from the UK, Ireland and Europe.
Clearance of the site was handled according to the original removal plan, dismantling of equipment, following which the site was demolished, cleared and handed back to the client on time and within budget.
