Loos with a view and former bank included in Pugh’s September auction listing

A public toilet block set in countryside close to Haworth and a former NatWest Bank building near Doncaster will feature among over 30 lots at Pugh’s next Yorkshire property auction at Elland Road Stadium in Leeds on 4 September.

The hill?top single?storey former toilet block at Penistone Hill Country Park near Haworth, one of the area’s most picturesque locations, has views over the surrounding moorland and is being auctioned with a guide price of £10,000 at the property auction. Bradford Council is disposing of the building, which has been closed since 2015.

Also included in the auction is a former NatWest Bank property in the market town of Bawtry, near Doncaster. The 2,400 sq ft building, which has a guide price of £270,000, was shut down in May this year. NatWest said an increase in mobile and online banking had triggered its programme of branch closures, including its Bawtry branch.

Paul Thompson, managing director of Pugh auction house, said: “We are seeing the ongoing closure of many high street branches as our banking clients continue to evolve the way they deliver their services in the digital age. Bawtry is a busy market town and the property is well located for potential commercial redevelopment.”

He added: “We have also seen a great deal of interest in the toilet block which is in a stunning rural location in the heart of Brontë country that attracts a high number of visitors and could make an ideal café or shop with an imaginative redevelopment.”

Pugh’s next Yorkshire & North East Property auction will take place at Elland Road football ground in Leeds on 4 September and their North West Property Auction will take place on 6 September at Manchester’s AJ Bell Stadium.
