The subject site is located behind 126 - 160 Ormskirk Road (A577) just to the west of Upholland. The A577 leads via Stannanought Road to Junction 5 of the M58 motorway network close by which in turn leads west to Switch Island and its junction with the M57 and east to the intersection with the M6 motorway. The surrounding land use comprises predominately residential housing, in an arrangement of semi-detached and terraced blocks. The subject site is irregular in shape and is undeveloped with access to site gained between numbers 138 and 140 Ormskirk Road.
