Eddisons To Manage First Zero Energy Cost Business Park
The Manchester office of Chartered Surveyors Eddisons has been appointed managing agent of the first zero energy cost business park in the UK.
Armstrong Point in Wigan is the first sustainable development to offer zero energy costs for occupiers by using of a series of passive and active technologies to capture and generate power locally.
The energy saving technologies include wind turbines, photovoltaic cells, solar hot water heating, rain water harvesting and innovative cladding.
There is also an electric vehicle charging point, meaning as they become more popular, tenants can charge them using energy generated on site.
Paul Gagan, Director – Commercial Property Management at Eddisons said: ‘This development represents a massive change to traditional commercial space and gives it a real competitive edge.
‘It provides incoming businesses with a substantially reduced cost base as well as helping to neutralise their carbon footprint.’
Eddisons has been appointed to manage Armstrong Point, which was part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), by Armstrong Properties.
David Armstrong of Armstrong Properties said: ‘We are delighted to be working with the Eddisons property management team, whose professional approach and knowledge of sustainable schemes will be of tremendous benefit moving forward.’
Located adjacent to the established Greenbank Business Park, Armstrong Point was built to offer accommodation from 1,367 sq ft to 23,389 sq ft, with easy access to Wigan town centre and the M6/M58 motorways.
Demand has been strong with only four of the original units now available. Work on the development is due to be completed shortly.
Armstrong Properties are actively seeking opportunities for further sites across the UK for this innovative concept for property development.
