Eddisons Tees up Golf Club Sale – Eddisons
The future of a West Yorkshire golf club is secure after being bought by a local businessman off an asking price of £600,000.
Silsden Golf Club in the village of High Brunthwaite near Keighley had looked to be on the brink of closure due to mounting debts. Now with the new golfing season about to start the club’s 130 members can take to the fairways with renewed optimism.
The terms of the deal mean the club will lease the 18 hole par 67 course, members’ bar, locker room and greenkeeper’s store from the new owner who in turn plans to redevelop the clubhouse and function suite into a family home.
The sale of the 58 acre site was completed by the Leeds office of Chartered Surveyors Eddisons, acting on behalf of Fixed Charge Receivers of the Silsden Golf Club.
John Padgett Head of Agency at Eddisons said: ‘We are delighted to have completed this deal and achieved the best possible outcome for the club and its members.’
Club Chairman Martyn Twigg said the sale brings to an end many months of anxiety as the committee struggled to keep the club afloat.
‘It has been an extremely difficult time and has led to many sleepless nights. At long last we can put the problems behind us, the debts have been cleared and we can now concentrate on playing golf,’ he said.
