Eddisons Advises Hesco Bastion on Site Disposal

Chartered Surveyors Eddisons has provided Leeds based Hesco Bastion with a range of services relating to two surplus sites owned by the firm on the outskirts of the City.

Eddisons advised on issues including rating, demolition and contamination, as well as on the sale of the 14.5 acre former Pittards Leather Mill site on Knowsthorpe Road, Cross Green, to a private investor.

They project managed the contamination issues and demolition of certain buildings which removed them from the rating list and created a saving of over £100,000 in business rates.

Meanwhile, the Machinery and Business Assets department disposed of architectural stone and collectables through to heavy duty plant. The majority of this has been sold through the Eddisons online auction platform.

Ian Harrington, National Head of Building and Project Consultancy at Eddisons, who coordinated the demolition project and asset sale, commented:

’Using the expertise across a number of our specialist departments has allowed us to provide the client with a fully managed and cost effective solution, which has resulted in a very satisfactory outcome for all parties.

‘The sale is further evidence that the appetite for key strategic sites with development potential is increasing in line with renewed economic confidence.’
Hesco Bastion was founded by the late philanthropist Jimi Heselden and is a world leader and innovator in the design and manufacture of rapidly deployable barrier systems, used for flood, humanitarian, security and military applications around the world.
