Project
St Helens Borough Council is transforming its town centre in partnership with the English Cities Fund (ECF).
The £100million redevelopment will require significant improvements to the highways infrastructure in preparation for the demolition of the existing shopping centre, car park and bus station.
A new 150 bed hotel, bus station, market hall, residential properties and ground floor retail will be built in its space, reliant on the new road network.
Approach
Eddisons, in partnership with AJP, has been commissioned to deliver the design works for all transport infrastructure, comprising a new state-of-the-art bus station and an enhanced ‘public realm’.
Results
The redevelopment is expected to deliver significant social value to support the council’s recently adopted Inclusive Growth Strategy, generating an estimated 485 jobs and adding £23.2m to the local economy annually.
